Employees on sick leave need assistance in returning to work and good health. At NGS CoreSource, we think of ourselves as disability claim managers rather than check writers. For example:- We will sit down with the plan sponsor to review the current disability plan, and suggest alternatives. We'll also compare disability plan exclusions with exclusions under the group health plan. The resulting plan will reflect the philosophies and objectives of the sponsoring organization - not NGS CoreSource's.
- Initial claim submissions are carefully reviewed to assess the availability of other sources of coverage, such as workers' compensation or automobile no fault benefits. We also obtain details when disabilities are accident related in order to determine subrogation potential.
- From the first approval of benefits, we establish target dates for return to work based on average recovery period information versus the period of disability authorized by the physician. This gets the employee thinking about their return to service.
- Through our supplemental claim information target dates, we stay in touch with the employee's physician to work towards the common goal of recovery.
- Independent medical evaluations are scheduled whenever the duration of disability varies significantly from the national norms.
- Further assistance in returning claimants to the work place is provided by evaluating partial return to work and work accommodation options with the physician, the supervisor and the employee.
